As autumn settles in, Amador’s culinary students prepare a Thanksgiving feast. This meal highlights their favorite recipes, showcases their teamwork, and emphasizes the traditions that make this holiday special.
“This is my sixth year doing it and I know it has been happening since Mrs. Ford’s been here at least 8 years, so at the very least the past 15 years the feast has been happening,” said culinary teacher Steven Dady.
Building Stronger Connections
The long-running tradition illustrates how important the fall feast is to the culinary program. Each year, students come together to share recipes, practice their cooking skills, and celebrate the season with food that brings everyone together. It also gives students a chance to take pride in their work and enjoy the results alongside their classmates and teachers.
“Working with my classmates has helped me because I learned important skills in the kitchen,” said Ava Hamilton (‘28).
Her experience shows how teamwork is key in the kitchen. Learning from and with classmates helps students build skills, try new techniques, and gain confidence in preparing dishes. It is not just about cooking; it is about working together to create something everyone can enjoy.
“A hundred percent of the food for our fall feast is donated by families of our culinary, catering, baking, and pastries students. I’m excited for the pies. The apple crisp and pumpkin pies are always a hit,” said Dady.
Contribution from all Around
The feast would not be possible without the support of families, whose donations make the event special. With classic desserts like pumpkin pies and apple crisps, students get to showcase their skills while celebrating the flavors of the season. It’s a chance for everyone in the class to come together, share their work, and enjoy the results of their hard effort.
“I believe people will be most excited to try apple crisps. The biggest hit in the feast will be the mashed potatoes and the turkey,” said Anaya Puri (‘28).
Students and teachers alike look forward to tasting the traditional favorites. It’s a celebration of both skill and flavor, bringing the classroom together over food. The fall feast is more than just a meal, it’s a tradition that brings the culinary classroom together. Students get to practice their skills, share their favorite dishes, and celebrate the season with friends, teachers, and family. Each year, the feast reminds everyone of the hard work, teamwork, and joy that goes into creating something delicious.
“Working with my classmates has helped me learn with other people and collaborate with others.” said Bella Casilli (‘27).
