Counter Culture Day: A celebration of the movement through photos

  • Atop hippie hill, all of the US history teachers gathered to spread the flower-power.

  • Mr. Dalldorf and Mr. Murphy fully embraced the hippie vibes on counterculture day.

  • With neon colors, lava lamps, and strobe lights, Dalldorf’s room was turned into a hippie haven.

  • Students were tasked with developing a presentation about a song from the era and sharing their newfound knowledge with the class.

  • Shielded by period correct beaded curtains, comfy beanbag chairs awaited students.

  • These fully decked out classrooms provided the perfect environment to learn about the counterculture of the 60’s and 70’s.

  • Students had the opportunity to pick from a variety of colors while tie-dying, allowing them to embrace the full rainbow.

  • Students and teachers gathered atop “Hippie Hill” during lunch to celebrate all things 70’s.

  • The teachers started a dance that grew exponentially as students joined in.

  • Ms. Murray was rocking a quintessentially 70’s outfit—check out the headband and the vintage leather vest!

  • Students got another chance to show off their creative side while decorating their teacher’s classrooms.

  • Lava lamps and psychadelic tapestries gave the room a hippie vibe.

  • US history students high five to make a colorful handprint on the wall.

  • The back field was crowded with Juniors creating art from plain white t-shirts.

  • Different patterns can be created by placing rubber bands on different parts of the shirt.

  • The activity of tie-dying removed students from the classroom setting and allowed them to embrace their creative sides.

  • Tie-dye was a popular back in the 70s, and it made a comeback this Counter Culture week at Amador.

  • Friends admire eachothers unique tie dye shirts.

  • Students soak their t-shirts before soaking them in vibrant dye.

  • US history students decorated walls with anti-war slogans, peace signs, and good vibes.

  • Students weren’t afraid to get their hands covered in neon paint—especially if there was extra credit involved.

  • The best part about tie dye is the anticipation—students never quite know what their shirts look like until the end result!

  • Iconic bead curtains were draped all over Mr. Dalldorf’s classroom.

  • The US History teachers went all out for Counter Culture day—Check out their outfits!
