Addison Stout (‘28) is traveling from Pleasanton to Türkiye to represent our country. She will play for the under-16 United States National Youth Team (USNYT). Stout has competed in soccer since age 6. Her consistency and persistence finally resulted in her recruitment for Team USA.
“It’s been a huge accomplishment for me. Representing the United States is a big deal, and I’m really excited,” said Stout.
The Early Journey of Addison Stout
Stout started playing soccer at just 3 years old. She became a competitive player three years later. On the pitch, she usually plays left wing. This offensive position focuses on scoring and speed.
“I’ve been playing soccer since I was born, pretty much. My main motivation is that it is just pretty fun for me,” said Stout.
Before joining Team USA, Stout participated in elite programs like the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and the Player Development Program (PDP). These programs help athletes compete across the country. They provide the exposure necessary for the USNYT.
“In ODP, you try out, and 40 people make the pool. You get selected to go travel to play in tournaments in Arizona and Portland. PDP is similar, but in your region, which is Sacramento to Santa Rosa,” said Stout.
Reaching the USNYT Recruitment Level
Hard work paid off when Team USA officially recruited Addison Stout. The scouting process is rigorous. Players must stand out among the nation’s best. They undergo multiple reviews before scouts select the final roster.
“You get picked by scouts at your games to go to a U.S. ID center, where you’re with a bunch of girls, and you play while U.S. scouts watch. The Youth National Head Coach is there, and she’s picking out players to travel internationally, and I got picked in that,” said Stout.
The Future for Addison Stout
Addison Stout has traveled internationally for other clubs, but this is her first time playing for the United States. She is now focused on her upcoming experience in Türkiye. To secure her spot on the roster, she knows she must play even harder.
“It’s the highest level you can play at, at this age, but still have to go and compete for playing time, compete to be a starter, and compete to be a captain. There’s still a lot that I need to be doing, but I am excited,” said Stout.
After high school, she plans to play at the elite collegiate level.
“I definitely intend to go D1 and play in college. But after that, I’m not really sure. Maybe playing for the Olympic team?” said Stout.

Her success is proof that focus, perserverance, determination, and, of course, hours of hard work, are the first steps in achieving her goal of being an elite soccer player. Her entire family is so proud and rooting for her!
