It is important to regulate the amount of meat you are purchasing during these tough times.

The Covid-19 pandemic is now starting to cause a massive strain on the world’s food markets, more importantly; the meat markets.

More and more panicked buyers are going to stores to get food relief items, along with lengthening the lines, it is also causing severe problems to suppliers to meet the increasing demand.

A lot of meat factory plants have been shut down due to coronavirus cases which has put pressures on other plants which are still open. But still, many sources say that running out of meat is quite unlikely.

The problem dwells on the fact that people are  panic buying extra food, meat being one of them, and storing it in their fridge to never be opened again.

At the end of March, meat sales at retail markets and stores increased to over 77% from the last few years indicating the extent to which panic shoppers are going to keep their kitchens stalked.

One of the main causes of this is because before the pandemic, households in the US used to balance their food consumption at restaurants with home cooking.

But now many restaurants have closed including 3% that have permanently shut down. So now because of this, more people are buying store produce especially canned meat and dairy.

Overall about 26.2% of meat is gone to waste that enters the U.S markets. Now this number is on the rise because of over stalking.

See this tracker on how many tons of food humans have wasted this year. This waste reflects the amount of animals that are dying because of customer hysteria.

It is important for people to buy meat and other food products in moderation, especially at a time like this where the future is a bit unpredictable.

Not going shopping frenzy will help ease out the stress that is applied on animals, suppliers and other shoppers as well.  Stay healthy and stay safe out there!
