We know the news has been hard to watch lately with all the frightening and concerning about the coronavirus. To help ease your nerves, this is a list of songs you can listen to, to get your mind off the news and in a healthier, less serious mindset. Hope you enjoy!

1. Far Alone- G-Eazy

Far Alone by G-Eazy is a good pick to listen to during quarantine because since we are unable to see any friends or go outside, the feeling of being alone can take over many people. Many people will relate to this song since the virus has trapped people inside their homes away from others.

2. Bored in the house- Tyga & Curtis Roach

Tyga’s single Bored in the house is perfect to add to your coronavirus playlist because it explains how everyone is feeling under quarantine. However, now we finally have the time to do some things we have been putting aside! Teach yourself how to make some new recipes or finally deep clean your room. Without a doubt we may be bored, but take this time to do something fun in the house too! Be creative.

3. Hard times- Paramore

Paramore’s Hard Times is relatable to our current situation because it is describing how there will be hard times and how she is scared of the outcome and when it will be okay to “come out again.”  In the song, the lyrics says “All that I want is to wake up fine, tell me that I’m alright, that I ain’t gonna die. All that I want, is a hole in the ground, you can tell me when its alright, for me to come out (hard times)”. I think this is relatable to our current situation because a lot of people are paranoid of the virus and are staying in their homes to avoid it, just like how in the song she is hiding from whatever is troubling.

4. As the World Falls Down- David Bowie

This could relate to the coronavirus situation because as some of the lyrics say, “As the pain sweeps through, Makes no sense for you, Every thrill has gone, Wasn’t too much fun at all, But I’ll be there for you, As the world falls down” meaning that even though the coronavirus is conquering our world right now, after it is over we will all be able to comfort each other in person, compared to the reality we have right now digitally. Despite its original meaning, I think this song describes the sense of community everyone has developed during this hard time.

5. Splendid Isolation- Warren Zevon

This song is perfect to add to the quarantine playlist because some people might enjoy isolation to have a break from society and have some time to themselves. Even though we still have school work to do, a lot of kids enjoy this time to relax at home amongst the company of family.

6. The Lazy Song- Bruno Mars

The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars is a good addition to our quarantine playlist because it describes how boredom is taking over kids in quarantine. Because we are unable to do our day to day activities, quarantine has led to a lack of motivation to many students, and the Lazy Song describes the feelings student’s are going through.

7. Kiss Me Thru the Phone- Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em

This song relates to the quarantine playlist because many people are unable to see their significant other. I think this song is ironic because people will literally have to kiss each other through the phone since we are quarantined and no one is able to see each other.

8.  Break My Stride- Matthew Wilder

Even though the coronavirus has quarantined us to our houses, many people have maintained good spirits and are looking on the bright side of this situation. This song talks about how nothing will break his stride and that he will keep on moving, and I think this is the perfect mentality to have during a crisis like this. By listening to this song, it will boost your spirits and you will be able to think positively!

9. Go Home- Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder’s Go Home is a good song to listen to during this quarantine as it is a reminder to those to stay home to avoid the virus. It also reminds those who are not staying home and taking the virus seriously, that this is a national pandemic and people are sadly losing their lives, so the least we can do is stay home to prevent the possible spread of the disease and keep others and ourselves safe. Even though we want to see our friends, if we stay home the virus will go away faster, leaving everyone back to their day to day activities.

10. Sicko Mode- Travis Scott

I think this song is ironic to add to the playlist because it is called Sicko Mode, which sadly relates to the virus because of the massive amounts of people it is infecting. Although the original meaning of Sicko Mode differs from the virus, the name describes how the coronavirus is making people sick.

11. Lonely- Diplo & Jonas Brothers

Lonely by Diplo and the Jonas Brothers describes all the fun activities they want to do and how they want to spend them with their friends and family and significant others, however, the coronavirus will put that on hold due to quarantining. This song is a good fit for the playlist because it is relatable as everyone wants to have fun right now and enjoy the second semester of school, but because we are unable to leave our houses, everyone is missing their friends, and as the song says, lonely.

12. Six Feet Apart- Alec Benjamin

This song fits the coronavirus situation perfectly because since we all have to quarantine by ourselves, we are all feeling lonely and missing our friends. Six feet apart is the government’s mandatory distance requirement that we have to maintain with others when out in the stores, but the song is talking about missing people when we didn’t have to worry about being six feet apart and he is singing about enjoying each other’s presence freely.

13. Stayin’ Alive- Bee Gees

This song fits our quarantine playlist because it ironically talks about staying alive. One of the lyrics is “Feel the city breaking and everybody shaking, people stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive” which we can relate to right now because even though our cities are being hit with the coronavirus, people are still doing the right thing to stay and look out for those around them

14. Toxic- Britney Spears

Britney Spears sings about how she is falling in love with someone and she can’t think straight because his love is toxic. Even though the meaning of this song is different from our current situation, the title of the song can relate to the coronavirus because the disease is toxic and is infecting people across the globe rapidly.

15. Heal the World- Michael Jackson

This MJ song is about making the world a better place, and after the coronavirus, people will appreciate the things that were looked over like playing outside or seeing our friends. Heal the World is a good song to add to the quarantine playlist because we should make the world a better place for everyone so we don’t have to worry about the bad things in life like death and enjoy the things that mean the most to us.
