For many families in our community, raising children is a struggle without the resources they need. That’s why Little Miracles, a new club on campus, is working to support families who may not be able to afford supplies like diapers, clothes, and other necessities. The club meets once a month in Mr. Kennard’s room, H-10.
“I’ve done various volunteer work at the nonprofit. Overall just seeing the impact, like seeing people come in to shop for clothes and diapers, really showed me how important it is to help these people,” said Co-President Kana Clevenger (‘27).
The club focuses specifically on helping families in need, primarily with raising their children. It is a chapter of the larger nonprofit organization, Little Miracles, that is based in the Tri-Valley.
Making an Impact
At club meetings, members receive supplies from the Little Miracles organization, package them, and send them back to the organization. Some supplies that they package include baby formula, car seats, and wipes. Club members also make mother’s day cards, coloring pages, and organize donation drives.
“This mission really hits home because…we’re leveling the playing field and helping the future of America and California in any way that we can,” said Co-President Aleena Asad (‘27).
Besides being able to help families in need, club members have felt a growth in their character.
“Joining the club has impacted me personally by really opening my eyes to what other people are going through and showing how I can give back to my community,” said club member Mia Harris (‘27).
Looking Ahead
In the future, the club hopes to volunteer with the larger Little Miracles organization. They hope to bring attention to their cause, with the end goal of supporting families in need.
“Hopefully once the club grows we can do more things outside of school…like organizing more drives for diapers and bottles,” said Clevenger (‘27).
