Keeping up with tradition, Amador’s Competition Civics squad just placed in the top 10 of the We the People national tournament’s 60 bidding teams after the first round of competition on Thursday and Friday.

“I was thrilled to see them make the top 10 round. I know it meant a lot to them to participate in the competition all the way to the final round, and I enjoyed watching them compete. They worked really hard and it really paid off for them,” said competition civics advisor Stacey Sklar.

As such, the California wild card competed today in the national finals, fighting for the chance to become the fifth team to win the national tournament back-to-back.

“It’s nerve-racking because of Amador’s legacy,” said Louisa Landhuis (‘23)

“In my first year we made nationals, but we placed 7th. Each year we make nationals, our final ranking has improved,” said Sklar.

The awards ceremony will be held today at 5:00 P.M.
