Leadership hosted Amador’s first Fun Friday of the year on Friday, August 8th during lunch. Students decked out in class shirts and school colors to show spirit. They got the opportunity to play games, get free treats, and listen to music.
“The whole idea of fun Fridays is to have a day every month that students really look forward to. Students get to show their class spirit by wearing their class T-shirts,” said Leadership Advisor Wendy Connelly.
To foster class pride and promote commnity belonging, Fun Friday is a new initiative. Through structured games and inter-class competitions, students engage in meaningful team-building activities that strengthen their connections and enhance school spirit.
“I hope that [Fun Friday] creates a more united and spirited culture around Amador. I feel we are pretty spirited in terms of athletic games and rallies, but at lunchtime, everyone just separates into their own groups. So I hope that Fun Fridays can kind of bring all the different groups together with the games and also just bring some happiness to their Friday lunch,” said Leadership member Chloe Fan (‘26).
The leadership team has been planning this event since the end of the last school year, covering everything from selecting food treat options to figuring out storage logistics. Launching a new school event takes careful preparation and coordination months in advance.
“We were planning on doing ice cream, but because of allergies and stuff, we chose Otter Pops. We’ve been planning this for a while. We got two giant coolers for this exact purpose at the end of the school year last year,” said Cali Parker (‘27).
Going Forward
Unlike other Amador events that occur on fixed dates like Pigskin and Homecoming, Fun Fridays will take place monthly. This offers students a consistent and ongoing activity to look forward to.
“I think [by bringing] Fun Fridays to the school, you can create excitement and motivate people to attend the events, because they feel [like] part of the community,” said Parker.
Fun Fridays will vary in the types of games and giveaways offered to keep the experience afresh. Leadership will hold Fun Fridays once or twice a month.
“The students are going to do different things on the first Friday of every month. There’s a committee in leadership that actually it’s their job to plan things for this. And so it’ll probably just be different games, music, and different giveaways with students wearing their class shirts,” said Connelly.
