  • While musabi can be filled with all kinds of protein, like chicken or salmon, the Japanese class chose Spam as the filling.

  • Briahna Ma (’27), Anya Wang (’26), and Kiyomi (Kiki) Yasui (’26) prepare Spam musubi before the festival.

  • Reese Zhou (’26), Yucheng Zheng (’26), Andy Wang (’26), and Cathy Gao (’25) assemble spam musubi before the festival.

  • Japanese class students prepare bonito flake onigiri, a traditional Japanese rice ball, before the festival.

  • Onigiri is an extremely popular snack in Japan. Even though Amador is an ocean away from Japan, it was popular here too as it sold out before lunch.

  • Japanese class students and parent volunteers both pitched in to prepare the food at the festival.

  • Natasha So (’26), Isabelle (’24) and parent volunteers smile as they prepare onigiri before the festival.

  • Japanese class students playtest Super Smash Bros Ultimate while the music team curates the perfect Japanese music playlist for the festival.

  • With a wide variety of traditional Japanese treats, like shaved ice and caramel apples, visitors were spoiled for choice.
