Downtown stores create a pumpkin scavenger hunt

With Halloween rapidly approaching, the Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) is hosting its third annual game for the community. The Pumpkins on Main Scavenger Hunt, is a fun game for the community to interact with local businesses, discover new ones, and win fun prizes.

person at the front, they’ll put a sticker on [the form], and then you can go to the next store,” said Towne Center Books employee Stacey Sturgeon

While the event began on Oct. 9, there is still plenty of time to located the hidden pumpkins.

“Retailers and restaurants signed up and they hid a purple pumpkin somewhere in their store,” said Gabby Welk, PDA Events Coordinator.

This time, nineteen different businesses in downtown Pleasanton are hiding these pumpkins.  This is allowing partakers to explore and experience new areas of the town.

“We really hope that people get a chance to visit stores in downtown Pleasanton, stores that they love and stores that maybe they didn’t know existed,” said Sturgeon.

Following the locating of the pumpkins, the gamecard instructs them to visit the Pleasanton Downtown Association’s office. The office is located at 333 Division Street in Pleasanton. There, players can turn in the card and enter the prize raffle.

“Each pumpkin they find is good for one raffle ticket. Then we enter you into a raffle and you can earn prizes like Five Little Monkeys gift cards, Towne Center Books gift cards, and different prizes from downtown businesses,” explained Welk.

These prizes will be donated from downtown businesses like Murphy’s Paws, Clover Creek, the PDA, and more businesses. However, participants don’t need to find all of the pumpkins to submit their cards for a raffle prize.

The event closes on Sunday, Oct. 29, and those involved urge everyone to participate in the festivities while they last.
