On October 16th, 2025, Pleasanton Gateway Shopping Center held its annual Halloween festival. Throughout the event, kids dressed up in costumes and participated in Halloween activities while businesses and restaurants handed out candy.
Involving the businesses
“This is an annual thing which our plaza has for the kids on Halloween. It gives us a chance to interact with the kids, they come dress up, and they trick or treat. It also gives us an opportunity for our businesses to come and showcase [them] and just spread the good word,” said Pleasanton Ridge Dentist Sonam Agarwal.
Businesses all around the Pleasanton Gateway Shopping Center participated in handing out candy to the passing kids. Some of the businesses include the Pleasanton Ridge Dentist group, Pure Bar, and Mike’s Bikes.
“I love the community outreach. I love the fact that we’re able to engage. Otherwise, we would only be engaging with those who do come to our studio, but we get to know and meet new faces here, which is great,” said Pure Bar employee Christine Morales.
This event has been incredibly successful over the years. Families look forward to attending these kinds of occasions during the spooky season to gain relaxation and laid-back fun.
“We’ve been coming for the past couple years and had so much fun. And so when I saw that it was happening again, we were absolutely in, and got some friends and family and neighbors to join us this year,” said attendee Katy Leetch.
Building a stronger community
Both businesses and families had the opportunity to connect with different parts of the Pleasanton community. Events like these provide the chance to meet new people and form special memories.
“It’s nice for sharing and enjoying. You know, kids [are] just enjoying each other…and getting dressed up, and being part of a community,” said attendee Karen Isabelle.
The event included activities for everyone and provided a kid-friendly kick-start to the Halloween festivities. There was pumpkin carving, bubbles, stilt walkers, face painting, a DJ, and more.
“I’m just really appreciative that the center does this for families. It gives the kids an extra chance to get excited about Halloween and have an early trick or treat experience, and kind of dry run for real Halloween to see how it goes,” said Leetch.
