Finding a balance with schoolwork and sports can be tricky but possible!

The school year is a busy year for students and especially for student athletes. Balancing out schoolwork with practices and games can be quite stressful. I’ve asked a couple students their opinions on how they manage their time with schoolwork and sports.

Athletes who dedicate themselves to one or more sports tend to really have a passion for what they do. Their sports can be used as an outlet for relieving stress or just way to exercise and have fun.

“I play soccer and golf! I’ve played soccer for as long as I can remember because I love it and it’s a lot of fun! I just started playing golf this year because it was a great outlet that helped me relieve stress and take care of myself,” said Brooke Inman (‘22).

Sport schedules can be a little hectic especially with school work being assigned all the time. It can be a lot for students mentally.

“In soccer, right now I am 4-6 days a week, and it is the offseason for golf right now so I get out there as much as I can! As for my course load, it has been a lot but it’s manageable. Junior year and APs have been a lot to balance with sports, but I think just staying organized and productive has helped me a lot,” said Inman (‘22).

Finding the perfect balance with school and sports can be a struggle for many. However, it seems that if you can find a way that works for you then it can really help you in the long run.

“Balancing sports and school has been difficult, especially as the year is wrapping up and more schoolwork is coming, but I think time management is key. It’s been hard to stay on top of everything but I’m trying my best,” said Inman (‘22).
