GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance club) has started their weekly meetings again. The purpose of this organization is to reach out and educate as many people as possible, and to create a welcoming and accepting space for the LGBTQ+ youth.
“Students can expect a safe place to hang out with people that they can relate too. We also get involved around campus and off with educating the people around us and spreading awareness,” said Hunter Schiller (‘19), the president of GSA.
A normal GSA meetings includes open discussions about issues pertaining to LGBTQ+, in addition to just friendly conversation and bonding time.
“The GSA was the absolute best part of my 4 years at Amador. For the first few years I identified as heterosexual, but with some soul searching with the help of the club, I was able to realize my true sexuality and be open about who I really am. If you are thinking of joining, you’ll be privileged enough to get to experience support and friendships that are unlike ones that could be found anywhere else,” said Vera Umansky (16’), last year’s Vice President.
GSA meets in the library in Lab B every Thursday at lunch.
